It’s easy to say to God that I trust Him when everything is going well. When there’s money in the bank, food in the fridge and everyone is relatively happy around me, it’s easy to say that God is my provider. When things don’t go to plan however, doubts try to creep in and I find myself questioning whether I can genuinely trust God. Lingering doubts affect both how I think and how I act.

Having a childlike trust in a Heavenly Father is a beautiful gift and is counter to cultures that idolise self-made men and elevate self-reliance. I’ve personally tired myself out over many years trying to prove my worth to people and instead have decided to look to God who sees worth and value in me because I am His child.

If we don’t trust in God, what can we trust in?

Our Money? The value of cash and assets are constantly changing and the love money is the root of all kinds of evil. Jesus said that it’s impossible to serve both God and money.

Our Health? Our bodies are all deteriorating and we will all eventually pass from this life… health will eventually fail regardless of what you eat and how often you exercise.

Our Reputation? Jesus was hailed as a hero one week as he rode into Jerusalem and then a week later crucified based on public opinion. The press love to build up personalities and then crush them… it’s dangerous to allow people to decide your value and worth.

After considering the alternatives I’ve decided that I will actively put my trust in God.
