THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
The terms ‘Christian’ is used to describe someone who follows Christ.
For over twenty years I’ve tried to follow Jesus. Part of this journey has involved running, there’s been a lot of walking and some hobbling. There have also been seasons of wondering where He’s gone… seasons of trying to offload my unneeded luggage and times that I’ve found myself completely off-course.
Following Jesus is tough… He runs an incredible race and is hard to keep up with at times. He will lead us into uncharted waters, through valleys and up steep inclines. He never said ‘come follow me… it will be easy’, however is in His mercy He leads us by quiet streams to restore our very souls. He gives us rest and helps us prepare for the next leg of the adventures of life.
Show me
Where my feet should tread
And guide me, help me
Each and every step
Many moons ago, I made an album called ‘On A Journey’ as part of a university project. Fast forwarding from 2005, I’m still on this journey and will continue to pursue God’s plan for me until my breath runs out. Keep moving forward in your journey to follow Jesus… wherever He might lead you.
Being with the one you love always involves sacrifice. I’d like to encourage Christians to pray bold prayers like the one in this song… the world will see the goodness of God when our prayers are most courageous and less about asking Him to make our lives convenient.
