2018 was a game changing year for me personally. Having successfully stuck to a morning routine of devotion, I have grown in my sense of gratitude and thankfulness.

The truth is that God has been good to me throughout my life... there have just been some seasons when I’ve allowed stress and worry to cloud me.

2018 was also not an easy year. We lost close members of our family unexpectedly.

Although we often look back and see the evidence of God's goodness throughout the difficult seasons in life, we sometimes fail to miss the everyday blessings: the little things where God fills us with his love, such as appreciating a sunrise; when one of your children does something for the first time; or being surprised at an act of kindness shown by a stranger.

James 1:17 says, ‘Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change’ and Psalm 145:9, ‘The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.’

There’s nothing - from the broadest brushstrokes of the seasons of life, down to the intricate details throughout each and every day - where God’s hand isn’t at work and his goodness apparent. We only have to look for it.

I would encourage you, whilst listening to this song, to write down a short gratitude list of specific things you’re thankful for from your day.
