THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the warm glow of the Christmas tree at night while familiar carols play sweetly in the background. Our tree is decorated only on the top half in order to keep our three small children from taking the ornaments and throwing them around the house. Even still, our tree is beautiful, and at the very top, we have an illuminated star. This star represents the light of God shining in the darkness. It points us to the greatest Christmas gift in the history of the universe. Over 2,000 years ago, God sent His only son to be born as an infant, to live a humble life as a man, to join the struggles and pains of humanity, and to overcome them once and for all.
Unto You is a song that celebrates the famous words spoken by an angel of the Lord in Luke 2:11, "Unto You is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." The angel also spoke comforting words to the shepherds trembling with fear in the field below; "Fear Not." These words have such power in our world of pain and uncertainty. When God gave us His son, He also gave us the gifts of forgiveness, joy, peace, and eternal salvation. Now we can live a life free from the fear of death as we trust in the name of Jesus.
The chorus from Unto You was originally written as a memory verse song for our local church congregation. Along with my husband, I have arranged and recorded over 20 bible verses and am currently releasing them to the public in a series called "Singing the Scriptures." (available on iTunes and Spotify)
