THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
The Creator, not the created, Whispers.
I was so grieved as I scrolled through my Instagram feed. So many lovely folks who were so close yet so far away. Their statements still haunt me, “The Universe is telling me…”
What can the created say to us other than to point us to the brilliance of the One who crafted it? It reminded me of the description of Abraham in Hebrews 11:8-12 and how I envision that played out in my mind.
There was likely no written works, no Scripture, no daily devotional book that Abraham took down to the local coffee shop for daily devo times with the Lord. Literally he walks out of his tent, scanning the horizon, taking in the grandeur of creation and listens. What great faith it must take to see the stars in the sky, to be overcome with the beauty, and yet say, “to the One who hung them, I hear Your voice in this. I want to know You.”
That isn’t even the end of it. Then Abraham leaves his childhood home, his stomping grounds, and heeding the Creator, he leaves it all behind. If only I had the faith to slow down, listen to the Lord whisper to me on the breath of the wind and then to move so boldly. Trusting the One who hung each star in the sky, that what He has for me is good despite my doubts and fears.
My heart is that people will hear this song and make that simple distinction between the created and the Creator. That they will throw their hands skyward in worship of the One who spoke it all into existence.
