Burn is another song written almost entirely from revelation during a time of personal prayer and it’s probably one of my most precious as it came from a direct encounter with the Spirit. As I spent time in confession with the Lord, I began to sense a need for purification and spoke the words “Burn away what isn’t You”. As I continued to pray and ask God for an undivided heart for Him, melodies and lyrics started to come to me and these words became the basis of a song:

Burn, burn away what isn’t You // Set, set my feet upon the truth // All consuming fire // You’re my one desire // So sanctify my soul // And set me on fire for Your glory // Let Your Kingdom burn in me 

The plea of this song is for the fire of God to not only burn away what is unholy in our lives but to also set our hearts on fire for His glory. 

Most of the song wrote itself in the next 10 minutes or so - after singing the chorus through once or twice, the verse just flowed out as I sang in the Spirit. 

Burn is a heart cry for holiness and for God’s Kingdom to burn so brightly in me that it spills out to the world.
