This song came about from a conversation with an old band buddy of mine. We were talking about our schedules and songwriting and realized how busy we both had become. It was the heavy part of covid and lockdown was actually happening. I think everything just seemed overwhelming.

The more and more I spoke to friends and family, I began to notice everyone was having the same feelings. The stress was really starting to wear some people down. Through some emails, I went back to that old band friend and song we were working on. Something wasn’t sitting right and I kept thinking about all the people I’d talked to and the encouragement I tried to give. The scripture that I shared with several was Matthew 11, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Once I was able to nail down what God was sharing with me, I was able to put the song together. My prayer is that this song would provide hope, healing and restoration to those in need.
