THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

During my late teenage years - I went through a phase of rebellion. To put it simply the act of following god just wasn’t appealing to me. So I would run from it, hide from it, not take it seriously. Thus, I developed a lukewarm relationship with him.

Confusion and exhaustion settled in my mind quite nicely and I began to tackle things without him.  I led myself astray. I caused inner turmoil and a complete muddle of emotions all at once.

God isn’t the author of confusion and I knew what I needed God to do to help me. But I would still refuse; I would still run away, even when I needed rescuing.

It’s like someone coming to save you in a lifeboat they’re there to help you. But you keep swimming back into the danger and refusing to get onto the lifeboat.

This song is about coming to a state of realisation and calmness.
