THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
If you love God with all of you heart, you won’t wrong your neighbour. If you love God with all of your soul, you will be satisfied with what you have and not covet what others have. If you love God with all of your mind you will embrace the Sabbath as rest make sense - right?
Jesus emphasised the importance of the first and greatest commandment in Matthew 22. I find that the more I love God, the easier it is to love people around me. Loving God involves spending time with Him and spending time with Him enables me to be transformed more into His likeness… loving your neighbour as yourself is both a richer and more rewarding endeavour when loving God.
So many of us struggle to give ourselves entirely to God. Perhaps a little bit of our heart is holding onto lust or greed, perhaps our soul craves power and control or maybe our mind retains skepticism towards certain scriptures or miracles. This song is an opportunity for us to recommit and reconnect.
God isn’t impressed by big churches, social media numbers or outward appearance. He is looking for wholehearted love, obedience and a trust that comes from knowing that He is Lord over all things. He loves openness and honesty. I don’t have it all together but I want to love in a real and authentic way.
With all of my heart
All of my soul
All of my mind and all of my strength
I want to love
Hold nothing from you
Lord my God
As you command
I will obey
No others gods
I’ll put in your you place
Cos I want to love you
Hold nothing from you
