“I won’t keep Him a secret”

This song came about following me taking a bold step to encourage a client who I was representing in court proceedings to invite the Lord into a difficult situation he was facing concerning his daughter.  

Later that day, almost immediately after praying about the situation, the first two lines of the song popped into my head “i’m willing to lose my reputation, because You gave Yours up for me”.

It’s funny because although in my spirit I knew that those specific lyrics were “downloaded” to me, the lawyer in me, questioned whether the second line was biblically sound. It wasn’t until several months later, that I discovered a passage of scripture which supported the lyrics I had received, Philippians 2 v 7 which says that Christ “made himself of no reputation”.

This song is a cry from the innermost part of my being to boldly proclaim the goodness of our God to the whole world, to live as Christ lived and to do all the things which He did. 

For so many years, I have shrunk back in fear and kept Jesus a secret.  However, like the lyrics in this song, I can no longer live like this, I must speak and not be silent about Him.

The bridge is both my prayer and my declaration about the kind of life I am determined to now live for Christ.  It is my hope that this song will stir others to preach the gospel and to reveal God’s kingdom on earth.
