In The Middle Of This Storm

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
Life can throw all kinds of curveballs our way and occasionally tragic events can derail us. Death, illness and unexpected challenges are sadly all part of life and rarely welcome. God, in His sovereignty does not always spare us from pain and suffering and this can leave us wondering where He is in the storms of life.
Last year we lost close members of our family and are still trying to make sense of it all. The raw emotions are still very present and wounds are yet to heal.
I wrote this song in whilst battling with the elements. My rational mind might question whether we can really say that ‘all we need is God’ when our bodies need food, water and sleep etc, however this is a song straight from the heart. When pain hits you hard, the realisation kicks in that you don’t need more money, a nicer house or more likes of your Facebook feed… you need Jesus.
Worship is a weapon of spiritual warfare. The enemy wants our faith in God to be decimated through our pain, suffering and questioning, but God wants to meet us in the chaos, mess and tears. Bringing songs and lifestyle of service to God in our most desperate times can be a challenging sacrifice but it is one worth making.
Psalm 30:5 reminds us that weeping may last the night but joy will come in the morning.
For anyone reading this who feels darkness, for anyone who has lost hope, for anyone who is tasting bitter tears I pray this song helps you to step closer to a God who is desperate to comfort you.
