In a moment whilst leading worship one Sunday morning, we had a word shared mid-worship about those that didn’t feel good enough and that God was wanting to erase that lie. And we waited. Some moments later, prompted by the spirit, I nervously started singing out this phrase “Your love, Your love, Your love reaches where I am.”

The spirit moved in a way that only He can. People took hold, and responded to this word, and started singing out, and in new ways, and expressing their love and worship of God. What a moment!

Afterwards, I had a sense that that spontaneous moment could be a full song. When I tried to sing it again, I realised it was in 6/8. How God amuses me, someone who hasn’t any official music qualifications, giving me that. So I then started trying to fit everything else around this phrase and time. How could I expand on this simple truth, keep it together thematically, and keep the essence of the ‘moment.’ Over the next 6 months, I worked through it, grafted and toiled, gave up and came back, talked through it with others, and then it was sort of ready to go… but I still felt it was missing something.

And then another moment occurred... Whilst reading through Romans - that goldmine of wisdom - I stumbled upon this: “Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8:38-39 NIV). What a verse! It was just the inspiration needed to finish the song. And then with a little more work, it was finished.
