Title: For we know not what we do

When Jesus gave his life for us on the cross, one of the last things he said was “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”  He breathed his last and then it was finished.  He paid the price for the sin of all mankind.  The fate was sealed at that moment for all who would follow after Jesus and accept the gift of salvation he offered to humanity.  

This song reflects on the final words that Jesus spoke and considers them in light of what is going on culturally and politically across the world.  There are so many hurting people that don’t know where to turn, and the darkness of the enemy seems to be growing heavier.  Unforgiveness, division, confusion, deceit, and anger are guiding the hearts of many.  

What would happen if people would accept the gift of forgiveness Jesus offers them, and would in turn forgive others? What would happen if mankind would truly love others with the sacrificial love of Jesus?  Oh Lord, forgive us, for we so often fall short in our own efforts to love and forgive those around us, as well.
