Recently I’ve been developing a passion to use a greater depth of musical expression in my worship, and move away from the 4-chord mould. This has meant experimenting a lot with different chord progressions, different chord voicings, and different chord extensions.

This lead me to wonder:

‘What would a worship song incorporating alternative and progressive rock vibes sound like?’

And from my musings, this song was born! Think of it like a Red Hot Chili Peppers bass line and guitar lick mixed with some pop-rock synths and prog rock chord extensions!

With the melodic and harmonic ideas brewing, I started to think about what lyrics I wanted to convey. I felt that this song needed to not only speak to Christians but also those who are perhaps seeking answers to the bigger questions of life. This led to a desire to ask those hefty questions and cut straight to the heart of what we, as Christians, believe.

My hope is that listeners or singers would continue to grapple with the lyrics and the song would provide a platform for discussions between those with faith and those without. This is all whilst under the guise of a funky alternative rock song!
