THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
When the Enemy Comes in Like a Flood
Psalm 118 is a wonderful verse about victory and triumphing over enemies.
We all have them. The Bible tells us in Ephesians that we are not fighting against people but powers of evil that exist in the heavenly realms.
There have been many times in my life when the forces of darkness have tried to invade my life, over take me and destroy me.
Meditating on scriptures like this one served to help me see that God is a greater force and higher power than all my enemies put together!
The Psalmist writes, “they did their best to kill me but the Lord rescued me.”
Thanking God for the victory before you have it is where the conquest often lies. Not at the end of the battle but right in the midst of it!
Gates are often mentioned in the Bible and are places where the people who belong to God sit, get rulings from the Courts of Heaven to enforce God’s will on the earth. Gates function as the access point that either allows or stops the purposes of God from manifesting on earth. These gates also lead to the presence of the Lord and bring His glory and presence to earth.
This song is really powerful and if the enemy is coming in like a flood in your own life you can cry out for the Spirit of Lord to raise up a standard against him and see God deliver you. I would really encourage you to have a good look at this Psalm and study it.
We can face our foes triumphantly and confidently without fear because there is no power that can compare to God who created the heavens and the earth.
There is no name higher than the name of Jesus.
