Not a reluctant blood donor.

This song started with me desiring to see the reality of what Jesus went through on the cross and to not just have a fairytale or fantasy version of events. The truth that He poured out real blood, that His lips truly did go pale and His eyes went dead and glazed is almost too much to take in. He did this in our place and I thank God that by the Holy Spirit we can know the Truth.

This will never be a guilt trip song. Focussing on the horrors of the cross is only meant to lift us to see the depths of our God's great love for us. He died our death and now, in Him, we live!

I've sometimes seen Jesus portrayed as an unwilling victim in all this but, in reality, He was so willing to get to the cross for you and for me. Like the irresistible, excitable and relentless pull of gravity upon the waters on the earth, leading them to the sea, so God, who is Love, irresistibly pours Himself out for us. He was never reluctant or holding back from saving you. From before the foundation of the the world He chose you and came running for you to bring you into His life.

I hope this song helps you to see the beauty of Jesus' passion for you and causes you to see just how much you are loved.
